I learned to crochet when I was little (thank you, Grandma!) and expanded my skills in college; crochet is a lot like writing in that it sometimes follows a pattern, demands patience, and requires more math than you’d expect. Crochet is the only exclusively handmade fiber art—machines can’t do it!—and I hope to carry on the legacy by learning new stitches, introducing others to this often overlooked art form, and passing the technique to my daughter, if she wants to learn, as my grandmother did for me.
